HYATT REGENCY HOUSTON NAMED HEADQUARTERS HOTEL FOR THE GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON

HOUSTON, Sept 23, 2005 - The Hyatt Regency Houston was designated the headquarters hotel of the Grand Prix of Houston today, announced Michael T. Lanigan, CEO of the annual Champ Car race staged in the Bayou City.

The Hyatt Regency Houston, a 977-room hotel located in downtown Houston, is considered one of the premier properties in Houston. Having served as a key hotel for recent major sporting events such as the 2004 Super Bowl and the 2004 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the Hyatt Regency Houston was selected to house Champ Car’s most important guests.

“One of the most important decisions regarding a major sporting event is where to house the governing body, participants, sponsors and fans,” said Lanigan. “The Hyatt Regency Houston has demonstrated an incredible – beyond a doubt – ability to host the world’s best sporting events and we wanted the Champ Car family to experience ‘the Hyatt touch’ during our event.”

The Hyatt Regency Houston is experienced in not only hosting recent major sporting events, it was the focal hotel property for the Grand Prix of Houston from 1998-2001.

“The Grand Prix of Houston was one of the most distinguished events in our city for years and we were proud to be a part of it,” said Donald J Henderson, Vice President and Managing Director of the Hyatt Regency Houston. “With its return, we welcome the entire Champ Car family to our property and we promise an experience that will be unequaled in 2006.”

The Grand Prix of Houston is slated for May 11-13, 2006 at Reliant Park. Those interested in staying at the Hyatt Regency Houston should call 713-654-1234, ext. 4420 for reservations.
