GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON ANNOUNCES DYNAMIC
LEADERSHIP TEAM
HOUSTON, Sept 9, 2005 – The Grand Prix of Houston has named Chuck Kosich to the position of General Manager, announced Michael T. Lanigan, Chief Executive Officer of Mi-Jack Promotions, who will also serve as CEO of the Grand Prix of Houston.
“We are delighted to announce one of the most dynamic leadership teams on the Champ Car series,” said Lanigan, co-owner of the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team and an individual who has been involved in open-wheel racing for more than a decade. “With the day-to-day management of the Grand Prix of Houston in the hands of Chuck, I am confident that we will present an event that everyone will be proud of.”
Champ Car announced on August 13 its 2006 Bridgestone Presents Champ Car World Series powered by Ford schedule which included the Grand Prix of Houston – the only event added to Champ Car’s current series. The Grand Prix of Houston, which will be held at Reliant Park May 11-13, will be Champ Car’s first night race on a street course in its history.
Kosich augments the leadership team with his 30+ years of corporate management and motorsports expertise. With a career that began at Firestone where he was Director of Advertising and Sales Promotions, Kosich has parlayed his skills and developed a impressive vitae that has included stints as Vice President of World Wide Marketing at Texaco and Vice President of Marketing and Special Events at Newman Haas Racing, prior to joining Mi-Jack Conquest Racing.
“I was proud to be part of the first Houston Grand Prix,” Kosich says. “Now I have an opportunity to significantly contribute to making the next generation of Houston’s Grand Prix history an incredible success. We will take the best of the past event and add to the event for the spectators and the participants.”
