GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON TO HOST BOXING EVENT AS PART OF THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS OF SPEED AND ENTERTAINMENT
HOUSTON, Mar. 30, 2006 – The Grand Prix of Houston’s exciting three days and nights of speed and entertainment just got even better, as officials announced today that a professional boxing event will be held in Reliant Arena as part of the Grand Prix of Houston festivities. The boxing event will take place on May 11 at 7 p.m. and will be produced by Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. Boxing tickets will go on sale tomorrow - Friday, March 31 at 10 a.m.
The boxing event will feature some of the best up-and-coming fighters in the ring today. The main event will be for the welterweight NABF title feature and will feature Larry Mosley against three-time NABF champion Golden “14 Carat” Johnson. Mosley (15-1) is a fixture of the Southern California scene who would break into the top 10 and be in position to contend for a world title with a victory in Houston. San Antonio’s Johnson (24-7), a local favorite, would also be in world title contention with a win. Four other exciting fights (to be announced) will serve as the under card.

The boxing event will be staged during the Grand Prix of Houston within the event grounds, but fans must purchase a separate ticket in order to attend the boxing. Tickets will be available as low as $15, with premium ringside seating costing $75 per ticket.
