ESPN and CBS Highlight Grand Prix of Houston Television Broadcasts

HOUSTON, April 13, 2007 – The City of Houston and the Grand Prix of Houston will be exposed to millions of racing fans around the world next weekend, thanks to four national television broadcasts and a number of international broadcast agreements.

The Champ Car Grand Prix of Houston on Sunday, April 22 will be televised live on ESPN at 2:00 p.m. (CST). The race will be the first broadcast as part of a new multi-year television partnership between the Champ Car World Series and ABC/ESPN. Rick Benjamin and Jon Beekhuis will be in the booth, with Cameron Steeles, Bill Stephens, and Michelle Beisner calling the action from the pits.

The Lone Star Grand Prix on Saturday, April 21 will be race four in the 2007 American Le Mans Series, and will be broadcast across the country on CBS on April 29 at 12:00 p.m. local time (tape delayed). Greg Creamer will handle play-by-play alongside analyst Calvin Fish, with Tracy Wolfson, Liz Halliday, and Danny Sullivan will serve as pit reporters.

The Fast Trac 100, the Grand Prix of Houston’s race in the Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, will be broadcast on ESPN2 on April 26 at 4:30 p.m. (CST). Rick Benjamin and Jon Beekhuis will be in the booth with Cameron Steele on pit lane. The Star Mazda race at the Grand Prix of Houston will also be broadcast nationwide on SPEED, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. (CST).

In addition to the four domestic broadcasts, the Grand Prix of Houston events will be viewed by fans around the world in more than 180 countries thanks to the comprehensive international broadcast agreements of Champ Car and American Le Mans. The live and delayed broadcasts include Motors TV in France, Eurosport2, Fox Sports International, GDTV in China, SBS in the Netherlands, and RDS in French Canada.

This season, Champ Car will become the first U.S. sports organization to contest a regular-season event in China, and Chinese fans can follow every lap of the action of the Grand Prix of Houston as the series has reached an agreement for Champ Car races to be carried nationwide to more than 800 million viewers in the world’s most populous country.
