The Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda is the premier open-wheel driver development series in North America. The Series comes roaring into Reliant Park on April 22 with the Fast Trac 100, Houston’s Atlantic Series race!

The Fast Trac 100 will take place on Sunday, April 22 as part of the Grand Prix of Houston, giving racing fans the chance to see Champ Car’s rising stars in action.

The Champ Car Atlantic Championship continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. In its 34th season in 2007, the championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy,
 
Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. Recent Champ Car competitors Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, Katherine Legge, Tonis Kasemets, Andreas Wirth, David Martinez and 2005 Atlantic champion Charles Zwolsman are established Atlantic graduates along with 2003 Atlantic champ A.J. Allmendinger and reigning series champion Simon Pagenaud, who joins Champ Car in 2007. Recent series graduates Graham Rahal, Ryan Dalziel and Alex Figge also join the Champ Car ranks this season. Atlantic grads have also won the Indianapolis 500 for the last three consecutive years. Competing in Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth engine while riding on Cooper Tires, 2007 competitors will fight for the 12-race championship and the unique $2 million Champ Car series champion's bonus.
